School Age

School Age

School age swimmers will still be concentrating on independence, water confidence, breath control, buoyancy and movement. There is a strong focus on personal confidence building and survival skills while considering individual needs.

5 + years

School-age children will learn a variety of swimming skills and correct techniques in swim lessons. We personalise & nurture according to their personality, confidence, level of experience and ability.

Water safety is still a major component of our program. Children continue to learn basic water safety skills, such as how to enter and exit the water safely, how to tread water, and how to reach and throw rescue equipment.

We have a strong focus on technique and children start with basic swimming strokes and breathing control for strokes such as freestyle, backstroke, lifesaving backstoke and breaststroke, As they build their abilities, confidence and strength they also learn sidestroke and butterfly.

Floating is still an important survival skill in case of an emergency and to continue improving swimmers body position.

More advanced swimmers will learn how to dive and build their endurance by swimming longer distances or doing laps.

Swim lessons can provide children with important life skills, improve their confidence and fitness, and help them develop a love for swimming that can last a lifetime.

Certificates: Starfish, Sea Monkeys, Yabbies , Crabs, Whales, Nemos, Hippos, Seals, Eels, Penguins, Jellyfish, Octopus, Dolphins, Sharks

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Children MUST wear caps and goggles for every class.
  • BY the time children begin learning breaststroke we recommend they stop wearing boardshorts and wear either bike short style or speedo bathers to allow for the movement required by the stroke.
  • For colder months please keep your children warm after class. Read our Winter Ideas for tips.
